Seagate Research Group (SRG) conducts research to transform Seagate’s considerable technical expertise, innovation, and manufacturing excellence to develop innovative technologies for the rapidly growing datasphere.
SRG’s Software and Applied AI Research section are dedicated the advancing the field of Machine Learning and research into applying ML method in Seagate advance projects, products, and processes. We use State-of-the-Art ML methods to develop applications and Proof-of-Concepts in these areas - Video Surveillance, Predictive Maintenance for HDD, optimizing data storage solution, Sensor-fusion for Augmented Reality and more.
About the role - you will:
- Implement Machine Learning Algorithm on one or more of the following Project(s)/Product(s)
- Ensemble Video and NLP Neural Networked based for Surveillance Applications
- Predictive Analytics for HDD applications
- Optimize data flow throughput for Storage Solutions
- Solutions for AI at the edge
- Support AI-Workload profiling and analysis
- Apply neural network compression techniques.

- Research and stay up to date with emerging technologies: Engineers must stay up to date with the latest advancements in their field to ensure they are designing systems that incorporate the latest and most advanced technologies.
- Strong mathematical background (linear algebra, statistics, optimization, calculus)
- In-depth understanding of Machine Learning / Deep Learning and the existing frameworks such as Tensorflow and/or PyTorch
What you would ultimately be able to be proficient in?
- Tech-Savvy with a deep understanding of AI/ML technologies like Transformer and its successor(s) and keeping up latest trends and technology developments in AI/ML.
- Theoretical Knowledge and Practical Experience of Programming
Your experience includes:
- Bachelor, Master's degree and/or equivalent experience
- Knowledge in one or more of the following: Python, Tensor Flow, Pytorch, R-programming, and one other lower-level programming language (C/C++ or Java)
- Knowledge one or more of the following:
- Machine Learning for Video Analytics and NLP
- Applied Reinforcement Learning Algorithms like Q-Learning or Genetic Algorithm applied in Practical Application
- One/or More Successful Project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment.

The Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center. Easily accessible from the One-North MRT Station, many employees choose to take mass transportation to work.
